My love affair with Anthropologie started years ago when I just started working. The store, I thought, was an artwork in itself. With its eclectic and feminine decor, I was transported into a world where all the pretty things lived. Needless to say, I have been a frequent visitor ever since.
You see, as much as I like Anthro and its collection of pretty things, oftentimes, I find the items too pricey for their quality. I have gotten some that did not survive past a few wears (*ouch*) despite all my efforts in extending their lifespan. Having said that, I still buy from Anthro because those pretty things are oh-so-impossible to resist. I just learned to put machine washables in the net in delicate settings and never ever to put them in the dryer. I also never buy them at full price. Sales of some sorts come along so often now that there is hardly any reason to.
Now, on to the piece that I have recently purchased during their recent sale. It’s a lace top by James Coviello called ‘Alice Lace Blouse’. I have seen a few of its lace tops at the Anthro store but I have never bought one so I can’t comment on its quality. What I can say is that it is b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l. I am completely smitten with this off-white, mock neck blouse because of its delicate and intricate lace details. Its lace patters are noticeably unique. The scallop edging around the neck and the sleeves remind me of soft flower petals. To add to it all are the lovely ladder stitches. It has all the lovely details without being over-the-top.
Fabric wise, I appreciate that it is made of a stiffer and more structured material to help keep its shape. It also doesn’t wrinkle easily. The top part of the blouse is less see through so if you are comfortable with a little skin showing through the lace in the bottom half, you could just wear a nude bra underneath. Personally, I would wear a skin color camisole under it just because I feel more comfortable that way but it’s definitely not necessary. I think this lace top is a keeper. I just hope its quality matches its beauty.
