A Bennett Deal

Aritizia has been having their clearance sale for a while now.  I haven’t visited their store much this winter and to my delightful surprise, Babaton’s Bennett Dress was on sale. And in my size too!  I have been eyeing their signature dress for a while now and am extremely pleased with myself for scoring one at a great deal.  Regularly at $135,  it is currently at $49.99.  I would high-five myself if I could.

For those of you who are not familiar with Aritizia, it’s a Canadian clothing company that started in Vancouver in the 1980s.  They pride themselves in their design and quality, both of which I can attest to.  They create their own brands, with each brand quite different from one another in terms of design.  Babaton is only one of the many brands under Aritzia.  Among my other favorite Aritzia brands are Wilfred, Talula and Little Moon.  Don’t you just love the names?  They also carry other known brands like Mackage, Citizens of Humanity and Levi’s, to name a few.  These go on sale too so do keep a lookout.

Back to the Bennett Dress.  At a quick glance, it’s a three-quarter-sleeve dress shirt with a draw string.  Upon closer inspection, you’ll notice a good weight to its fabric, the hidden buttons, the curved hemline, the quality of its stitching and the fluidity of this dress.  Most importantly, it’s lined!!!  It is lined with a sturdy, not your-paper-thin fabric at the bottom half.  And no, the top isn’t see through even when unlined.  I have seen many incarnations of this dress in all colors and patterns.  The one I bought is bone/comet which is a subtle pink hue with equally subtle gray snake skin patterns on it.  Being a shirt dress, I can throw it on with a pair of flats for a casual but put-together look.  Or, I can dress it up, since it is quite a refined dress shirt, with some nude color or silver heels.

Click here for more details about the item.  If you are interested in getting one for yourself, I know they still have some sizes available online.  If there is a store near you, I know they can look through their system to see if there is availability in your size across the stores.  A word of caution, however, is to try it before you buy it.  I like Aritzia’s items but not so much their return policy during sale seasons.  During clearance sales like this, they don’t issue refunds, allow exchanges nor honor returns.  One interesting thing I noticed is that if you purchase enough at Aritzia, you will get on their good list and they will offer you higher discounts during certain sales.  I could not get anyone in the store or on the phone to confirm the minimum treshold for entering this special list but I have seen some shoppers getting cards with special discounts because they were on the list.  I could only watch in envy and admiration.
