When I need to get my fashion fix, Zara is my go-to place. It’s relatively affordable for current, trendy styles so that I don’t feel too guilty when my ever-fleeting fashion fixation ends. My most recent purchase revolved around just that – an unexplainable fascination with bucket bags and polka dots.
I couldn’t believe bucket bags have made a comeback and come, they have, in all colors and sizes. I found it easy to say yes to this happy and sunny cutie I found on Zara’s website. At $29.90, I think the Monochrome Bucket Bag is well-priced.
It has a handle and an adjustable shoulder strap so I can carry it cross body. It is a good sized bag, not too big nor too small on my small petite frame. It also has enough room for my wallet and a few packets of snacks. If yellow doesn’t suit your taste, you can also get it in the ever-versatile gray color.
Bucket bag aside, my quest for a polka dot “something” was fulfilled as well. I don’t particularly love polka dot pattern in general but I find it appealing when combined with other patterns. I quite like Zara’s Polka Dot Top with its semi sheer and flowing material. Lovely details include elastic smocking around the neck and shoulders, and decorative buttons to the side on an otherwise simple blouse. I particularly like the elastic, contrasting sport stripes on the cuffs of the sleeves which give the top a bit of an edge. Pair it with black denims or shorts (now that spring is almost here), slim black pants or black skirt and you will have a pulled-together look that can take you from day to night.
Interestingly, I find that the yellow bucket bag and the polka dot blouse make a good pairing. I suppose a pop of color, a mood lifter, never hurts an outfit.
